HOW DOES IT WORK?

We tattoo dark lips according to the lip neutralization treatment plan. If you have lips with a brown, blue, or purple hue, they can be corrected using opposing colors, like peach, yellow, warm pink, or red. This plan will eventually brighten your lips into a pink hue. The effect lasts from 1 and up to 3 years.

WHY DOES THE TREATMENT REQUIRE MULTIPLE SESSIONS?

Depending on your lip level of pigmentation, the lip neutralization process may be long.

You may require 2-5 neutralization sessions with 6-8 weeks in between each session.

First sessions will help reduce the darkness of lips by using warm-based pigments. When lips become neutral and light, the colored tattooing using targeted pigments can begin

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW.

  • The dark lip neutralization may cause hyperpigmentation to your lips where the skin may produce more melanin which creates darker pigmentation areas. This is a risk that must be acknowledged when consenting to the procedure. It is essential to know how your scars heal. Try to find a scar on your body and see if there is any pigmentation around it; if your scars heal darker than the skin around them, your body produces more melanin after injury, which can happen after dark lips neutralization also.
  • It is essential to know that this treatment cannot guarantee you a definite lip color, but you will get lighter and brighter lips for sure, but one cannot determine the actual shade beforehand.

HEALING PROCESS

  • During the healing process after the dark lip neutralization, you may experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is where your lips may temporarily be darker or whiter after the treatment.
  • Depending on the client’s age the healing period can extend anywhere from six to eight weeks, sometimes even more.

HOW MUCH DOES IT HURT?

  • The technique is non-traumatic, bloodless, and painless. In terms of pain, the procedure is comfortable, but some parts, like the cupid’s bow, feel a bit more sensitive.
  • Topical numbing cream is used before and reapplied during your treatment. This step will also help keep you as comfortable as possible.

PRE-CARE INSTRUCTION

  • Please check the contraindications first to ensure you are a good candidate for permanent makeup.
  • Start to use lip balm/mask/Vaseline several days before the treatment to make your lips soft and smooth. If there is dry skin, it won’t be possible to put the pigment in those areas.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol two days before the procedure.
  •  If you have just had fillers/Botox done, wait 3-4 weeks before the permanent makeup procedure.
  •  4 weeks prior NO chemical peels, Retin-A around the lips area.
  • The procedure cannot perform if you have an active cold sore, pimple, or irritation in or around the lips. If you suffer from cold sores, you may start an anti-viral prescription (speak to your doctor).
  • On the day of your appointment, do not drink coffee.
  • Please stay home and reschedule your appointment if you have a cold, flu, or sinus/respiratory infection.

ON THE DAY OF THE PROCEDURE

  • We will have a consultation and discuss your treatment plan.
  • Your medical history will be checked to assess your suitability for the treatment. You will be asked to fill out paperwork (consent form).
  • Following the consultation, I will begin drawing the shape of your lips to build a frame so that the lips look even.
  • I always follow the natural shape of the lips to enhance the natural beauty.
  • We will work together for your lips’ shaping, styling, and color selection.
  • Once all is approved, we will start the permanent makeup procedure.
  • The appointment usually takes approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
  • At the end of the procedure, I will provide you with the aftercare kit and instructions.

A successful healed result depends on your aftercare.

  • You may experience swelling and redness after the procedure.
  • The following 1-2 days the lips may appear very bright and dry.
  • During the healing process, you may experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is where your lips may temporarily be darker or whiter after the treatment.
  • Two days after the treatment, avoid spicy food and heat, do not eat and drink bright-colored food (like berries, red wine, etc.) as it can color your healing skin.
  • Keep the treated area clean and dry.
  • Do not touch, pick, peel, rub, or scratch your lips during the healing process; try to avoid kissing. Picking or pulling off skin that is not ready to come off will cause pigment loss and pull-out deeper tissue.
  • Until the area has healed, moisturize lips with a thin layer of ointment, recommended by the technician. It is essential to moisture lips before eating food or brushing your teeth.
  • Do not use decorative cosmetics on the treated area for 10-14 days.
  • Avoid for at least two weeks: spa, jacuzzi, saunas, hot, steamy, long showers, and chlorine pools.
  • No Gym at least 5 days after treatment.
  • Do not expose the treated area to sun or tanning bed (3-4 weeks after procedure).
  • Avoid sleeping on your face; use a fresh pillowcase.
  • NO abrasive creams, sea salt, chemical peels, laser, antibiotic ointment AHA, Retinols, fillers, or strong treatments on the treated area for 14 days.
  • The result of the first treatment will be visible after 6-8 weeks when pigment will stabilize in the skin. Please be patient and trust the process!

ANNUAL TOUCH-UP

After your final touch-up, your permanent makeup should last 12 -24 months, The pigments come off gradually, dissolving evenly and without spots. Once the color starts to fade, the client can book a color refresh session. I recommend that you wait 18-24 months before coming in for another touch-up.

THESE ACTIVITIES GENERALLY WILL MAKE PIGMENTS FADE FASTER

  • Tanning out in the sun a lot.
  • Use anti-aging cream, Retin-A/retinol products, acidic cleansers, and regular chemical peels.
  • I want your permanent makeup to last, please use SPF lip balm and avoid harsh products.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE.

  • TRANSMITTABLE BLOOD CONDITIONS (e.g., HIV or Hepatitis).
  • PREGNANT or NURSING Although there is no medical evidence that permanent makeup would affect an unborn child, we don’t know for sure. So, we suggest you come back after the baby is born and you are no longer nursing.
  • Patients who have EPILEPSY, HEMOPHILIA, or a HEART DISEASE should have a physician’s approval before any permanent makeup procedure.
  • ON ACCUTANE or STEROIDS Topical steroids thin the skin. Depending on your skin’s stage, it may be too fragile to undergo the procedure.
  • GLAUCOMA
  • You must be off RETIN-A or RETINOLS 7 days before the appointment and avoid or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely.
  • AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE You should get clearance from your doctor before considering permanent makeup.
  • DIABETIC (TYPE 1) If you are insulin-dependent, you are not qualified for permanent makeup. Healing could be compromised and take longer than average.
  • MITRAL VALVE PROLAPSE, ARTIFICIAL HEART VALVES OR ARTIFICIAL JOINTS, or any person that requires prophylactic antibiotics before dental or other procedures will need to consult their physician for treatment before permanent makeup.
  • ON ANTICOAGULATIONS Long-term use of blood thinners results in increased bleeding and bruising, which will affect the implantation of pigment and increase the healing time.
  • BLOOD DISORDERS that affect clotting such as hemophilia, sickle cell anemia, and platelet disorders could interfere with pigment implantation.
  • HAVE ANY OTHER HEART CONDITIONS uncontrolled high blood pressure and poor general health would be a concern; you will need to see your physician and discuss the procedure before considering permanent makeup.
  • HERPES SIMPLEX People who get fever blisters or cold sores may experience an outbreak after procedures. You must consult your physician and receive proper instructions on preventing an outbreak post-procedure.
  • KELOID OR HYPERTROPHIC SCARRING Persons with tendencies for these types of scarring also have the same risk with permanent makeup.
  • If there are any BLEMISHES, PIMPLES, ACTIVE COLD SORES (HERPES), IRRITATION OF THE SKIN of any kind, MOLES, or other skin imperfections in or around the area of the procedure. I will NOT BE ABLE to make the application until the blemish or area of the concern is gone or the mole is removed and healed.
  • CHEMOTHERAPY When someone is going through chemo, they may be more at risk of bleeding or getting an infection. It would be best to get clearance from your doctor before considering permanent makeup.
  • HISTORY OF ALLERGY-RELATED ECZEMA, PSORIASIS OR ALLERGIC TO MAKEUP AND COLORS OR EASILY TRIGGER POST-INFLAMMATORY HYPERPIGMENTATION As permanent makeup can sometimes exacerbate the symptoms. It would be best to get clearance from your doctor before considering permanent makeup.
  • SCARS from surgery (injury) in or around the procedure area must be healed for at least one year before service.

IF YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL ISSUES THAT YOU FEEL MIGHT BE A CONTRAINDICATION, PLEASE CONSULT YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER BEFORE CONSIDERING PERMANENT MAKEUP.
